01 · The half35 min to curtain

The call comes at 18:55.

An understudy learns the whole part and hopes never to play it. When the phone rings at the half, there is time for a costume, a wig and one walk of the blocking. Nothing else.

02 · Places3 to 7 s

Same blocking. Different body.

Ada learns the lead's moves to the inch, then finds her own reasons for every one of them. The stage manager should notice nothing. The audience should notice everything.

03 · The spot7 to 10 s

The light does not know who was billed.

A slip of paper in the programme, a line from front of house, and then the same chair, the same cone of light, and 900 people who came to see someone else.

Parts she has gone on for, 2022 to 2026.

Hover a role and its scene plays behind the letters, with a line from it. Choose one and the case opens: the run, the notice, what happened on the night.

Free from 11 January.

Covering Isolde at the Calder until 10 January. After that, Ada is reading for leads and for covers. Choose a slot for a reading and the agent confirms within a day.

The Salt Year

Went on for the press night after the lead lost her voice at 18:52. The blocking was hers to the inch; the pause before the last line was Ada's, and it stayed in the show.
