Walnut, dried for 3 years.
01 · The blank300 mm across
Every blank is cut from one storm-felled tree, sealed at the ends and stacked under the bench until the moisture meter reads 12%. Then it goes on the chuck and the lamp comes down.
A walnut blank on a cast-iron lathe, one work lamp and one gouge. Scroll drives the cut, drag walks round the piece, and the last pass is a coat of oxblood lacquer.

02 · The cut800 rpm
The edge never digs. The bevel rubs behind it and the curl lifts off clean, so the wall comes out smooth enough to finish without sanding past 240 grit.
03 · Hand-overlive model below
Below, the same blank as a live model. Scroll carves the profile pass by pass, drag walks round it, and the arrow keys do the same from a keyboard.
Go to the lathe04 · The lathe, livethree.js
The same walnut blank, built in code. Scroll pushes the gouge in pass by pass until the wall is 6 mm, then oxblood lacquer spreads across the grain.
Drag to walk round the bowl. Focus the lathe and the arrow keys do the same.
Loading the lathe: three.js, then the blank and its walnut shader.
05 · The shelf01 / 04
One at a time on a slow turntable, rebuilt from the same profiles they were turned to. Drag to look inside.
